From Hair Braiding in Puerto Rico to EDC 2026
Hi, Sunnies! Long time, no see! How are all the fans of Puerto Rico braids? I hope everyone is doing great. Wow, it’s hard to believe that it’s almost the end of spring, isn’t it? I had the most amazing spring, and I hope yours was the same. By the way, when I say ‘amazing’ I don’t mean ‘relaxing’… I’ve been super busy! But now I finally have some time to keep you updated on the news.
For a wonderful weekend in May, I became a Las Vegas braider at EDC, as I’ve done before (in case you don’t remember, you can read about my previous experiences with EDC braids, festival braids, here and here!) But this year, it was quite different: I wasn’t just focused on the braiding experience; it was also a special time for my family.
In this article, I’ll tell you what I’ve been up to (both personally and professionally) and share with you some wonderful news regarding our beloved studio. Keep reading to find out!
A Very Special First Mother’s Day
To those of you who are new or are catching up on the blog after a long time, you must know I am the proud mom of a beautiful baby girl, Cyra (born December 2025). Of course, one of my favorite spring highlights was having my first Mother’s Day. My baby is now 5 months old, and she has the most adorable little smile. I’m crazy about her! I was looking forward to this weekend because we got to spend it in Vegas, braiding during the EDC Festival.

I’m learning how to balance being a mom with my career, and one thing I’ve learned firsthand is that we can’t attempt everything alone. I can be in charge of the best braids in Puerto Rico and lead other festival braiders at EDC, only because I have a great team. This applies to motherhood as well: You’ve probably heard it before, “It takes a village to raise a child”, right?
That’s why at Vegas, we got an amazing babysitter called Kieu, the best babysitter energy, laid back from California. I am SO thankful for how sweet and patient she was with my baby! Cyra adored her. And Kieu didn’t just pamper little Cyra. She took my baby and me to Hot and Juicy and told us about Weera, which has the best Thai food.
Braiders in Vegas: an Unforgettable Experience
What else can I tell you about EDC? During my trip to Vegas, I enjoyed the immersive experience of being part of this HUGE EDM festival that brings together hundreds of thousands of fans from all over the world. I had lots of fun (you know, the kind of fun you leave in Vegas hahaha), but I also collaborated with a small group of local braiders to give festival attendees the best braiding experience. We teamed up with Live How You Want (my partner’s logistics company that provides transport and accommodation to festival goers), and we got to braid at Westgate Hotel & Resort.
I’ve been a professional braider for many years, but hair braiding in Puerto Rico is quite a different experience from becoming a Las Vegas braider. From the time you get to complete each braiding hairstyle to the vibes of the raver community, you find yourself doing an entirely different job. But that’s okay. I truly enjoy both experiences!
The Most Popular EDC Braids
I began attending EDC a few years ago. For that occasion, I realized that festival hairstyles are quite something! Ravers plan their outfits months in advance, and they want their hair to highlight their look. It’s not just about keeping their hair styled and protected while they dance; they want to SHINE under the electric sky!
That’s why I came up with some exclusive festival braids. Here are the most popular designs at EDC:
Rave Rapunzel: This is the most popular style at EDC because it brings together the simplicity of two braids with the dramatic statement of color and volume you want in your festival braids. Everyone loves the soft bubble sections. These braids adapt to any rave outfit as the client gets to choose any color they like. The best part is both bold and comfortable: With your hair conveniently out of the way, nothing prevents you from dancing long hours.
Groove Goddess: Do you want to turn heads and capture the essence of EDC in every single pic you upload to your stories? How about getting this updo? It features two high ponytails and chunky box braids. All that extra volume makes it perfect for making a statement from the moment you step off the shuttle until you finally call it a night and head back to your hotel.
Dancefloor Diva: This is the complex style that people choose when they want to highlight their makeup. If you’re a fan of glitter, eyeliner, face paint, gems, or temporary tattoos, you will love a braided hairstyle that provides your facial features with the perfect frame. We create this festival braided hairstyle by focusing on the front section, styled with thick half cornrows together with hair extensions that create a dramatic effect. To complete the astounding look, a long ponytail falls toward one side.
Electric Crown and Wildflower: If you’re in a hurry, you may not have the time for a more complex style, but you still want your hair to last the three whole days of the festival and match your high spirit! These two EDC braids are fantastic for ravers who can’t wait to get to the stages, as they take less than an hour. Think colorful tie-ins that are quick to apply and provide the perfect touch for your rave looks.
Spotting the Differences Between Festival Braids and Puerto Rico Braids
Being the owner of Puerto Rico’s #1 braiding studio, I once believed that braiding at EDC wouldn’t be so much different than creating vacation braids for tourists… as it turns out, hair braiding in Puerto Rico is not like creating festival braids on the go. Here are some things that change:
The music: People in our studio in Puerto Rico want to chill out and relax, while ravers want to start the party! That’s why we choose different music at each spot. I love both long chill-out sessions and EDM, don’t you?
The appointments: Some styles at Puerto Rico may take the entire afternoon, such as small box braids. Our clients know they need to save that time, especially since they’re likely to keep the same braids for weeks. In Vegas, ravers want fast styles that take no more than a couple of hours.
The audience: Back home, we’re used to braiding people of all ages, including children. Many families come to get their hair braided for their beach vacation. EDC Las Vegas is for grown-ups only! Again, thanks to my amazing babysitter for taking care of little Cyra while I was at work.
The colors: Most Puerto Rico braids are shiny and colorful… just not the same colors as EDC braids. Many clients in San Juan want shades of blonde or other colors that perfectly match their beach pics. In Vegas, we used pink, light blue, neon green, and other flashy colors that go great with the laser shows!
In any case, braiding at EDC is a special occasion. I truly enjoy being surrounded by all that powerful energy, and I look forward to coming back next year with my fellow festival braiders! While I had a great time in Vegas with my colleagues and family, it’s good to be home! Now that we’re back in San Juan, we are preparing for the summer, which is my favorite time of the year. It’s the perfect time to visit Puerto Rico and hit the beach.

De las trenzas en Puerto Rico al EDC 2026
¡Hola, Sunnies! ¡Cuánto tiempo que no nos vemos! ¿Cómo están todos los fanáticos de las trenzas de Puerto Rico? Espero que estén estupendamente. Guau, es difícil creer que ya casi se termina la primavera, ¿no? Tuve una primavera de lo más increíble y espero que la de ustedes haya sido igual. Por cierto, cuando digo "increíble" no me refiero a "relajante"... ¡Estuve súper ocupada! Pero ahora, finalmente, tengo algo de tiempo para ponerlos al día con las novedades.
Durante un maravilloso fin de semana de mayo, me convertí en trenzadora en Las Vegas para el Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), como ya lo he hecho antes (por si no lo recuerdan, pueden leer sobre mis experiencias anteriores con las trenzas de EDC y trenzas de festival aquí y aquí). Pero este año fue bastante diferente, ya que no solo me enfoqué en la experiencia del trenzado, sino que también fue un momento muy especial para mi familia.
En este artículo les contaré qué he estado haciendo que me tuvo tan ocupada (tanto en lo personal como en lo profesional) y compartiré con ustedes una excelente noticia sobre nuestro querido estudio. ¡Sigan leyendo para enterarse!
Un primer Día de las Madres muy especial
Para quienes son nuevos por aquí o se están poniendo al día con el blog después de mucho tiempo, deben saber que soy la orgullosa mamá de una hermosa bebé, Cyra (que nació en diciembre de 2025). Por supuesto, uno de mis momentos favoritos de esta primavera fue celebrar mi primer Día de las Madres. Mi bebé ya tiene 5 meses y su sonrisa es lo más adorable del mundo. ¡Me tiene loca de amor! Yo esperaba con muchas ganas que llegara este fin de semana porque pudimos pasarlo en Las Vegas, haciendo trenzas durante el festival EDC.

Estoy aprendiendo a equilibrar el ser madre con mi carrera, y una cosa que he aprendido de mi propia experiencia es que no podemos intentar hacerlo todo solas. Puedo estar a cargo del mejor estudio de trenzas en Puerto Rico y liderar a otras trenzadoras de festivales en el EDC solo porque tengo un gran equipo. Esto también aplica a la maternidad: seguro ya han escuchado antes eso de que "se necesita una aldea para criar a un niño", ¿verdad?
Por eso, en Las Vegas conseguimos a una niñera increíble llamada Kieu; tiene la mejor energía, muy relajada, directa desde California. ¡Estoy TAN agradecida por lo dulce y paciente que fue con mi bebé! Cyra la adoró. Y Kieu no solo consintió a mi pequeña Cyra; también nos llevó a mi bebé y a mí a Hot and Juicy, y nos recomendó Weera, que tiene la mejor comida tailandesa.
Trenzadoras en Las Vegas: una experiencia inolvidable
¿Qué más les puedo contar sobre el EDC? Durante mi viaje a Las Vegas, disfruté de la experiencia inmersiva de formar parte de este ENORME festival de música electrónica que reúne a cientos de miles de fanáticos de todo el mundo. Me divertí muchísimo (ya se imaginan, el tipo de diversión que se queda en Las Vegas, jajaja), pero también colaboré con un pequeño grupo de trenzadoras locales para ofrecer a los asistentes la mejor experiencia de trenzado. Nos aliamos con Live How You Want (la empresa de logística de mi pareja que ofrece transporte y alojamiento a los asistentes al festival) y tuvimos la oportunidad de hacer trenzas en el Westgate Hotel & Resort.
Llevo muchos años como trenzadora profesional, pero hacer trenzas en Puerto Rico es una experiencia bastante diferente a convertirse en una trenzadora en Las Vegas. Desde el tiempo del que dispones para completar cada peinado hasta la vibra de la comunidad raver, te encuentras haciendo un trabajo totalmente distinto. Pero está bien, ¡en verdad disfruto de ambas experiencias!
Las trenzas más populares del EDC
Comencé a asistir al EDC hace unos años. En esa ocasión, ¡me di cuenta de que los peinados para festivales son de otro nivel! Los ravers planean sus atuendos con meses de anticipación y quieren que su cabello resalte su look. No se trata solo de mantener el cabello peinado y protegido mientras están bailando; ¡quieren BRILLAR bajo el cielo eléctrico!
Por eso diseñé algunas trenzas exclusivas para festivales. Estos son los estilos más populares en el EDC:
Rave Rapunzel: Este es el estilo más popular en el EDC porque combina la sencillez de dos trenzas con el toque extremo de color y volumen que buscas en tus trenzas de festival. A todos les encantan las secciones suaves tipo burbuja. Estas trenzas se adaptan a cualquier ropa de festival, ya que los clientes pueden elegir el color que prefieran. Lo mejor es que es un estilo tan llamativo como cómodo: con el cabello convenientemente despejado de la cara, nada te impide bailar durante largas horas.
Groove Goddess: ¿Quieres robarte todas las miradas y capturar la esencia del EDC en cada foto que subas a tus historias? ¿Qué tal si te haces este peinado recogido? Consiste básicamente en dos colas de caballo altas y box braids bien gruesas. Todo ese volumen extra lo hace perfecto para destacar desde el momento en que bajas del autobús hasta que finalmente decides que es suficiente por una noche y regresas a tu hotel.
Dancefloor Diva: Este es el estilo complejo que la gente elige cuando quiere resaltar su maquillaje. Si te fascinan la brillantina, el delineador, la pintura facial, las gemas o los tatuajes temporales, te encantará un peinado trenzado que enmarque a la perfección tus facciones. Creamos este peinado de festival enfocándonos en la sección frontal, diseñada con cornrows gruesas a la mitad junto con extensiones de cabello que crean un efecto dramático. Para completar este look impresionante, una larga cola de caballo cae hacia un lado.
Electric Crown & Wildflower: Si tienes prisa, tal vez no tengas tiempo para un estilo más complejo, ¡pero aun así quieres que tu cabello dure peinado los tres días completos del festival y combine con tu gran energía! Estas dos trenzas de EDC son fantásticas para los ravers que no ven la hora de llegar a los escenarios, ya que toman menos de una hora. Visualiza los complementos de colores que se colocan rápidamente y aportan el toque perfecto a tus looks de festival.
Descubriendo las diferencias entre las trenzas de festival y las trenzas de Puerto Rico
Como dueña del estudio de trenzado número uno en Puerto Rico, alguna vez pensé que trenzar en el EDC no sería tan diferente a crear trenzas de vacaciones para los turistas... Pero resulta que hacer trenzas en Puerto Rico no es lo mismo que crear trenzas de festival sobre la marcha. Aquí hay algunas cosas que cambian:
La música: Las personas en nuestro estudio en Puerto Rico quieren relajarse y descansar, ¡mientras que los ravers quieren comenzar la fiesta de inmediato! Por eso elegimos música diferente para cada lugar. A mí me encantan tanto las sesiones largas de relajación como la música electrónica, ¿y a ustedes?
Las citas: Algunos estilos en Puerto Rico pueden tomar toda la tarde, como las box braids pequeñas. Nuestros clientes saben que necesitan reservar ese tiempo, especialmente porque es probable que conserven las mismas trenzas durante semanas. En Las Vegas, los ravers quieren estilos rápidos que no nos tomen más de un par de horas.
El público: En casa estamos acostumbrados a trenzar a personas de todas las edades, incluidos niños. Muchas familias vienen a trenzarse el cabello para sus vacaciones en la playa. ¡Pero el EDC Las Vegas es solo para adultos! De nuevo, gracias a mi increíble niñera por cuidar a la pequeña Cyra mientras yo trabajaba.
Los colores: Muchas de las trenzas en Puerto Rico son brillantes y coloridas... pero no con los mismos colores que las trenzas del EDC. Nuestros clientes en San Juan buscan tonos rubios u otros colores que combinen perfectamente con sus fotos de playa. En Las Vegas, usamos rosa, azul claro, verde neón y otros colores llamativos que van de maravilla con los espectáculos de luces láser.
En cualquier caso, trenzar en el EDC es una ocasión especial. Disfruto mucho estar rodeada de toda esa energía tan potente, ¡y espero volver el próximo año con mis compañeras trenzadoras de festivales! Si vienes a nuestra isla, querrás cuidar tu cabello y lucir increíble al mismo tiempo. Solo piensa en las largas caminatas por la orilla, con la brisa en los hombros y el cabello totalmente arreglado y espectacular.
