Top 3 Most Popular Braids for EDC Las Vegas 2026
If you had told me a few years ago that I would be flying from Puerto Rico to Las Vegas to braid hair for one of the biggest music festivals in the world, I probably would have laughed. But here I am, getting ready for my third year braiding at EDC Las Vegas, and every time I go, I learn something new about what festival-goers truly love when it comes to their hair.
The first time I brought my braiding skills to EDC, I was honestly shocked by how different festival braids are compared to the styles we usually create at my braiding studio in Puerto Rico. At Sunny Braids, most of our work revolves around vacation hairstyles for tourists visiting the island. Those styles are usually neat, tight, and designed to last through beach days, humidity, and long walks through Old San Juan.
Festival braids, on the other hand, live in a completely different universe. They are about color, volume, fluff, creativity, and personality. Instead of sleek and subtle, they are bold, playful, and designed to stand out under neon lights and lasers.
My first time attending the festival itself was on a Sunday, and that was my very first introduction to the rave world. The music, the lights, the outfits, the energy—everything felt larger than life. I quickly realized that hair is a huge part of the experience. People don’t just want braids that hold their hair in place. They want braids that become part of their festival identity.
By my second visit in 2025, everything had grown. We had more clients, more organization, and more excitement around our work. In fact, we were completely sold out on Friday. I flew a braider from Puerto Rico to help me, and I also hired local braiders in Las Vegas so we could serve more people. That year, we created incredible looks, received amazing reviews, and captured beautiful content of our clients showing off their festival braids.
Now, for 2026, things are getting even more exciting. I partnered with my boyfriend’s business, Live How You Want, to create an even bigger experience for people attending the festival. While his company helps people travel to EDC with transportation and hotel packages, I help them complete the experience by creating stunning festival braids before they head to the dancefloor.
If you are attending EDC Las Vegas 2026 and want a hairstyle that looks incredible all night long, here are the top three braids clients request the most. You can also see how this journey started in my earlier post about going from Puerto Rico to Braid at EDC in Las Vegas.
Style 1. Rave Rapunzel
This style always turns heads.
At first glance, it begins with two braids, but there is nothing simple about it. Rave Rapunzel is all about playful color and dramatic volume. Think pink, light blue, and cotton candy shades woven into soft bubble sections that feel almost magical under the festival lights.
The hairstyle combines bubble braids with smaller braided details that are wrapped together near the top of the head. The result is a look that feels both dreamy and powerful.
One reason this style is so popular at EDC Las Vegas is that it balances beauty and comfort. Your hair stays secured and out of the way, which means you can dance, jump, and move freely without constantly fixing your hairstyle.
Another advantage is that it is relatively quick to create. When I braid this style, it usually takes around one hour.
To create this look, I begin by dividing the hair into two equal halves. Each side is then separated into around eight or nine rows. Small hair ties secure each row before extensions are added using a loop tool. Once the sections are connected, I braid the hair into a large cornrow and tease the extensions slightly to create a fuller, more dramatic appearance. Finally, the remaining hair is braided and wrapped neatly so the ties remain hidden.
This style has become a signature festival look and is often requested by people who want something bold but still comfortable enough for hours of dancing.
Style 2. Dancefloor Diva
Some festival hairstyles focus on volume. Others focus on structure. Dancefloor Diva focuses on highlighting the face.
This style is perfect for festival-goers who plan to go all out with their makeup. Glitter eyeshadow, dramatic eyeliner, and bold gems become even more striking when the hairstyle frames the face correctly.
The process begins by separating the front section of the hair. Instead of the usual hair partition, the section moves slightly further back, almost reaching behind the ears. This creates more space to work with in the front.
The front section is styled using thick half cornrows. I like to think of them as the stars of the party. To create that diva effect, I add hair extensions and tease them slightly so the braids appear fuller and more dramatic.
The back of the hairstyle is gathered into a ponytail using a tie-in technique. I wrap a small section of hair around the base to hide the hair band, so the final look feels polished. Then the ponytail is styled so the hair falls toward one side instead of straight down the back.
This small detail makes a huge difference. When the hair sits slightly to the side, the entire hairstyle becomes visible from multiple angles while the person is dancing on the dancefloor.

Style 3. Wild Flower
Not everyone has two hours to spend on a hairstyle before heading to the festival. Some people are rushing from the airport, others are trying to meet friends at the festival gates, and many simply want something beautiful without spending too much time or money.
That is exactly why I created two quick styles in my festival collection: Wild Flower and Electric Crown.
Both styles can be completed in about thirty minutes, which makes them perfect for clients who want something eye-catching but efficient.
Wild Flower uses a few carefully placed braids combined with colorful extensions and decorative wraps. The braids frame the face and blend into loose hair, creating a look that feels playful and free.
Electric Crown is slightly more structured. It uses braids placed strategically around the head to create a crown-like effect, which is where the name comes from. When metallic extensions or bright colors are added, the result is striking even though the structure is simple.
Despite being faster styles, these looks still photograph beautifully and stand out in the crowd.

Why Festival Braids Matter at EDC
Hair might seem like a small detail compared to the music and the lights, but once you attend EDC, you quickly realize that personal style is part of the culture.
Festival braids are not just about keeping your hair in place. They are part of the creative expression that makes the rave community so special. People spend months planning their outfits, accessories, and makeup. The hairstyle becomes the finishing touch that brings everything together.
For me, traveling from Puerto Rico to braid at EDC has become one of the most exciting parts of my year. It allows me to bring my braiding craft to a completely different environment and connect with people from all over the world who want to celebrate music, art, and creativity.
And the best part is seeing clients look in the mirror after their braids are finished. That moment when they smile, take a picture, and say they are ready for the festival is what makes the work so rewarding.

Wild Flower y Electric Crown
